Robert Burke, president and CEO of Robert
Burke Associates; Jay Levitt, president of Fashion Bug and Carmen Marc Valvo,
designer of the eponymous women's fashion collection; will each be honored at
the Alumni Association of the Fashion Institute of Technology's (FITAA) Star
Salute dinner on Wednesday, May 12th, 2010, at the Metropolitan Club. J.
Michael Stanley, managing director of Rosenthal and Rosenthal Inc., and Susan
White, president of White and Warren, co-chair the evening. Each of the
honorees has been chosen for their outstanding contributions to the fashion and
related industries. The Star Salute dinner is the Association's annual gala
fundraising affair. Past honorees have included Nanette Lepore, Joe Barrato,
Bud Konheim, Renzo Rosso and Chris Madden. The not-for-profit organization's
mission is to maintain relationships among FIT, its alumni, faculty and the
fashion and related industries. Founded in 1953, the Association hosts annual
fundraising and "friend-raising" events, with the aim of enhancing
the life of current FIT students through scholarships, contribution to campus
environments and facilitating industry interaction. The event has allowed the
Alumni Assocition to raise $2.5 million dollars, which it has donated back to
F.I.T. for scholarships, student financial support and the construction of
